A Day

What’s in a day? There are 24 hours in a day. That is equivalent to 1,440 minutes or 86,400 seconds.
Let’s find out what occurs in a day.
  1. One of the leading causes of death is cancer and one of the deadliest cancers in the world is lung cancer. The leading cause of lung cancer is cigarette smoking. More than 5.6 million cigarettes are smoked everyday.

  2. There are billions of barrels of oil reserves and the world pumps more than 32.2 million of barrels of oil daily. Oil reserves are expected to be consumed more or less 50 years from now.

  3. Water is of great importance, without it humankind will not survive. Are you aware that there are more than 1.3 billion people worldwide that don’t have access to safe drinking water?

  4. While many people are wasting tons of foods elsewhere, about 1.04 billion people are undernourished and more than 10,700 people are dying of hunger everyday.

  5. On the contrary, there are more than 342.2 million obese people and about 1.15 billion people worldwide are overweight.

  9. Believe it or not, there are about 7,200 earthquakes in a day but most are not felt.

  10. It seems exaggerated but lightning strikes the Earth 518,400 times a day.

  11. An average person earns $18 in day while Oprah Winfrey accumulates more than $750,000.

  12. Snail mails gradually lose its significance due to the emergence of Emails. There are more than 107.3 billion email messages sent in a day.

  13. Although internet, news cable and others are very popular sources of news and entertainments, there are still about 206.4 million newspapers that circulate daily.
